Performing

Tammie Huntington maintains an active performing career introducing contemporary art music and lyric theatre throughout America’s heartland. In addition to a regular recital schedule, she has most recently created the role of Amanda in the new American political operatic web series A House Divided by Philip Seward (soundtrack available on all major streaming platforms). Seward and Huntington will be presenting A House Divided at the Twentieth International Conference on the Arts in Society at Carnegie Mellon University in May 2025.
In 2010, Huntington, with colleagues Lisa Moore and Phoenix Park-Kim, formed the ensemble Soprani Compagni for the purpose of modeling soprano collaboration and commissioning new works for soprano duet. Soprani Compagni had their Carnegie Hall debut in 2012, and performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the College Music Society International Conference in 2013. Through a generous grant obtained from the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in 2015, Soprani Compagni commissioned twelve new works for two sopranos and piano themed around Portraits of Women, available in a 2-CD album and on all major streaming platforms, along with a 2-Volume anthology. They spent 2016-2017 touring South Korea, Hong Kong, China and the U.S. with the Portraits of Women project, and performed at the International Congress of Voice Teachers at Stockholm, Sweden, in August of 2017. During the 2025-2026 concert season, Soprani Compagni is presenting a recital of Indiana composers and contemporary music celebrating the Hoosier state.
Some of the highlights of Huntington’s early performing career include the roles of Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Josephine in Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore, Suor Geovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and Miss Stacey in Anne of Green Gables. She has also appeared as Guest Soprano Soloist with the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra, Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, Mississenewa Valley Band, Lakeland Community Choir & Orchestra, Grace College Community Wind Ensemble, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Lakes, Warsaw Symphony Orchestra & Symphonic Chorus, Ball State University NBA Band Ensemble, Vesper Chorale and Orchestra of South Bend, and Grace Community Orchestra and Festival Chorus, singing masterworks including Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Magnificat, Bach’s Cantata No. 51, Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, and Schubert’s Mass in G Major, No. 2.

A House Divided
A House Divided is a modern opera reflecting the 21st-century American political divide. Composed for soprano, tenor, piano, string quartet, and electronics, it was created to be presented as a web series, exploring the ever-expanding landscape of innovative lyric theatre production. With a runtime under 60 minutes, it may also be staged traditionally with a minimal set for an advanced opera workshop or university graduate opera program.

For Fun & Family
Though I do not consider myself a composer, there are times in life when journaling my feelings developed into a song. Most of these were written in the early years of marriage and motherhood, long before the internet and YouTube were popular. Recorded in the early 2000’s, I’ve included them here because they are part of my history and musical development – and maybe, just maybe, one of my children or grandchildren may want to listen and get a glimpse into my young girl heart.
